Welcome to a new year as a 5th or 6th grade student at Cayuse Prairie School!   This is my third year teaching at Cayuse Prairie.   I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. For much of my childhood, I was raised in a small town nestled against the foothills of the Wind River range in Wyoming. I graduated from high school and moved to Washington where I earned my first degree from Evergreen State College, a small liberal arts school in Olympia, Washington. Upon finishing my degree at Evergreen, I enrolled in the Elementary Education program and earned a second degree from Montana State University in Bozeman. This is my 12th year as a teacher. I taught for several years in small schools outside of Bozeman. My first teaching position was in a small, three-room school in the Paradise Valley, just north of Yellowstone National Park. It was there that I fell in love with rural schools. I've taught, primarily, in multi-age classrooms in addition to being a gifted and talented program director and teacher.    My favorite grade levels to teach are 5th and 6th grade, so I feel extraordinarily fortunate to be teaching my two favorite grade levels at Cayuse

I moved up to the Flathead Valley with my family (husband, two step-daughters, two pooches, one gato, and a bearded lizard.  Outside of teaching, I enjoy doing all the activities with my family that each season provides. We love to kayak, paddle board, fish, and explore the mountains in the spring through fall, and snow shoe and ski (in all shapes and forms) in the winter.   I just learned how to wake board this summer!   I am looking forward to meeting all of you! Please feel free to step in to chat. I am always open for questions and concerns. I love volunteers, especially those more talented in the arts than I am. I can be reached at 756-4560 ext. 26 or by e-mail at larsenc.cayuse.k12.mt.us@gmail.com
