Hello! I am Amy Piazzola, Cayuse Prairie's Superintendent/Principal This is my 31th year in education and 13th year at Cayuse Prairie School. Over the past twelve years, I have come to realize that Cayuse Prairie is a very special place. We have an outstanding staff of professionals that do their best to meet the needs of every child. We have parents that support teachers and their child(ren) the educational journey. This partnering, along with engaged volunteers, substitutes, and our Parents & Friends of Cayuse Organization creates a wonderful school community. This year is our 126 year of educating the Cayuse community! That's a big deal! My staff and I take this responsibility very seriously and I am proud to lead this charge.
We are proud of our school's horticulture program and look forward to harvesting produce from our garden, and using our greenhouse to incorporate science into K-8 grade. Watch for our annual Greenhouse Sale that shows the hardwork and efforts of all our students and staff.
Technology plays an important part of our educational process for all students. Our 1st -8th grade students have their own chromebooks. Lessons integrate the use of the chromebook so students learn the tools they need to function in today's world.
We continue to enjoy our hot lunch program established ten years ago in partnership with Kalispell Central Kitchen.
I welcome you to our school family. My staff and I are always looking to include our community, parents, and grandparents in the important work we do at Cayuse Prairie. If you'd like to be a part of this great work, please, stop by and see how you can help.
I look forward to working with Cayuse Prairie families to make their child's educational experience an exceptional one!
A little about myself:
I was born and raised in SW Montana in the small town of Ennis in the beautiful Madison Valley . I am the oldest of 3 daughters. My family still has the ranch I grew up working on that raises cattle, alfalfa, and certified seed potatoes. I liked growing up on a ranch. It is what has instilled my strong work ethic, I believe.
My first teaching job was in Fallon, NV teaching 5th grade at a year-round school. (I LOVED IT!) After 7 years there we decided it was time to head back to good ol' MT! I have lived in Noxon, MT where I taught Kindergarten for 1 year and then 1st grade for 11 years. I want you to know I didn't decide to be an administrator because I am tired of teaching. I love to teach. I believe as a school leader, I can have a positive impact on students, staff, and the community I serve.
I enjoy keeping journals, digital scrap-booking, reading, staying in touch with family/friends, teaching aerobics, being active outdoors, taking vacations; especially cruises, and being with my family. I have a wonderful, supportive husband named Brian and four children: Brandon (& wife, Shayna), Tyler, Maggie, and Morgan, all whom I am very proud of and can't imagine life without! I have 2 grandchildren that bring additional joy to our family. Being a grandparent is the BEST!
This is a picture of my first day as Cayuse's Principal!
