Activities at Cayuse Prairie: None we made up own games.
Their Best Memory from Cayuse Prairie: Mrs. Prestrude always hitting someone with history books on top of head and bending them in half. (worst memory) Best Memory was how community pulled together and raised money for books and supplies, cleaned school, and did all things together. The P&F Club our Moms all belonged to. School programs we put on for all Holidays. Moms made the costumes and we cleaned basement and built the stage. Food from the potlucks were always the best and plentiful from each Moms kitchen. Baseball games at other schools. We rode in the back of my Mom and Dads wheat truck. The field trips to town, same truck. WE would all take our ice skates and skate in my Dads field at recesses. Going back to school in the fall to see our friends again. We would very seldom see friends in Summer. Our big picknic at Lake Blaine Resort at the end of school year and swimming, rollerskating, and just enjoying good food, let alone ice cream that was brought from the creamery in town for the occation. Mrs. Prestrude would make chili at school for our valentines party and other special occasions.
Their Favorite Teacher: I only remember 2 teachers. We just did not have a lot of teachers for all 8 grades in one room. When in 5th grade they separated the lower grades from the upper grades. Then we had Mrs. Hopkins and Mrs. Prestrude.
