Beginning Of Year Letters

2023-24 Superintendent Letter from Mrs. Piazzola

It is my pleasure to welcome you and your family to the Cayuse Prairie community.  We are celebrating our 125 years of educating Cayuse students this year.  That's a big deal and because of this, 'I LOVE MY SCHOOL!' is this year's theme.  My staff and I will share the reasons we love Cayuse Prairie and what we want you to know about the work we do here, as well.  I hope you will join in sharing the love at our Open House on Thursday, Aug. 31st, from 3-6 PM.  We invite your child(ren) to bring all their school supplies and his/her backpack when s/he comes to meet this year's teacher.  After that, they can join in the following stations: 1) Painting Rocks, 2) Design Your Name in Sidewalk Chalk, 3) Take a Garden Tour, and 4) Express in Writing “Why You LOVE Cayuse Prairie School”.  Parents, I invite you to attend 2 important sessions: 1) The Role of Title 1 at our school and 2) The Infinite Campus Parent Portal App for all you need to support your child this school year; this will also include how-to's for accessing our new food service program and payment system.

When I joined the Cayuse Prairie staff 12 years ago, I immediately noticed the family feel of this community.  It's the heart of the people in this community that make it what it is.  I believe my staff and I love and give our whole-hearted efforts in everything we do at Cayuse Prairie.  We value working together for the greater good of our school.  We will teach your child the importance of hard work and putting forth his/her best effort into all s/he does.  We will teach perseverance when things get tough and that doing hard things makes us resilient & stronger individuals.  We will focus on social-emotional learning to build a strong social foundation and restorative practices when students make mistakes. We believe that mistakes are learning opportunities, and we love when students embrace learning.  We will teach students to focus on our school’s visions, by predicting, monitoring, and reflecting upon the things they do at school. We want students to be thinkers and problem solvers, not mimickers.

We provide middle school students opportunities to be leaders in our school by volunteering at the Flathead Food Bank, being mentors to younger students in classrooms and at recess, and doing community service projects around our school, including volunteering at the Creston Volunteer Fire Department Auction the first Saturday in April.  We believe in making a difference in our community, and my staff & I believe in leading by example.

I look forward to this school year and continuing to learn something new every day!

Blessings,

Mrs. Amy Piazzola
